Sitemaps and wireframes.

Sitemaps: A sitemap is a list of pages of a website. Sitemaps are used by the website designers to help plan out the website. It provides information shortage pages, videos and other files on your website.

key conventions of a sitemap

-the home page is at the top. 

-the lines indicate the links between each tab.

-the function to log in/sign up

-tabs and sub tabs.

wireframes: This is the website layout. It helps the desingners have a layout of the page inn their heads before doing all the codeing. Its a drawing of the pages interface that mainly focuses on the space avaliable on the page. It can be done in a light sketch.

  

key conventions of wireframes:

-logo placeholder

-header and footer placeholder

-primary image placeholder

-secondary image placeholder

-sample text or body copy

-hex codes (these are codes that define colours for a designer)

-button paths(show a user what content appears when pressing a button)

 advantages and disadvantages 
-An advantage of the wireframes is that the web deisigner doesnt have to re design the website till they like it because they already have it layed out.- a disadvantage of wireframes is that if you finally decide to do the website you still might not like the layout once you actually see it on the web page.-an advantage of the sitemaps is it gives you an idea of how too layout the work and what section you want to put everything. and that also mean you cant miss out any of the web links because you have it planned.-a disadvantage of wireframes is that its not in colour so when its put down on the website it might not all look the way you thought with the colour down.-a disadvantage on site maps is that you may never realise if you miss something out during the planning.
